Moving Day

It's moving time.  I am moving some of the content of "It's the Journey That Counts" over to a new blog.
The URL for the blog is:  http://youaretheboss.org.

This blog is going to be dedicated to struggling drug addicts and the people who love them.  There is ALWAYS hope and there is more help available now than ever before.

The stigma that used to follow alcoholics and addicts around is being lifted to allow these suffering people the help they need.

There is help.  There are people standing by the phone lines waiting for you, if you suffer from any addiction, from nicotine (which is the most abused substance in the United States) to Meth and Heroin and everything in between.

Borrowing and utilizing the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous, great strides have been made in helping those who are caught in this patient, insidious disease.  The Destroyer of lives, the Destroyer of families, the harbinger of an early death.

But—there is HOPE—there is HELP.

I doubt there is anyone, anywhere, whose lives have not been touched in a negative way by someone caught in the web of addiction.

Just know that they are someone's child, someone's sister, brother, husband, and maybe father.  You know that anger and resentment and blame the addict.

The addict is responsible for his actions and should be held accountable.  Society, families, friends do not have to accept unacceptable behavior from an addict.

But–do not judge.  But for the Grace of God, it could have been you.  Have mercy, compassion, and do your part in trying to help.  That help may be from a distance but you can help in some way.

Talk to your minister, doctor, even police.  Find out what the options are.  Never give an addict money nor let them con you into taking them in.  They will do whatever they must do to get their next bottle or that next high.  You can begin with prayer.  And prayer may be the only thing you can do.

Know this: Prayer is powerful.  It saves lives.  It works.  If you don't believe, just try it.  If you don't believe that God can make a difference in an addict's life, try Him.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.  I would appreciate any comments you may have.  I welcome the opportunity to listen to your rants, your tears, your stories.  If you love an addict, there is help for you.  If you are the addict, the is help for you.

I own all these books I'm advertising here and many more.  They have helped to keep me on the straight and narrow for almost 28 years.  I recommend them highly.

Don't give up before the miracle.  Hang in there.  God bless.
