I started reading and found it refreshing. The book of Proverbs is poetry - beautiful poetry. When I was in college, my literature professor suggested that we use parts of the Bible to study. He said that the Bible IS literature and, if read that way, no one, no matter what their spiritual or religious affiliations or lack thereof should object.
Proverbs was one of those books he chose. Pithy, concise council for living is what Proverbs is all about. If you would like to check it out for yourself, I'll make it easy for you. Just go to:

You will be able to choose parallel versions, concordance, and a bible dictionary if you want. I have found this to be a convenient tool to use in Bible studies.
